Did you know there is a strong connection between marriage and the coming of Christ? The Bible teaches us that Jesus is coming back for a holy bride: the Church, namely all the individuals who have given lordship over their lives to Jesus.
> “Let’s rejoice and be exceedingly glad, and let’s give the glory to him. For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his wife has made herself ready.”

Scripture teaches us that Jesus is coming back for a pure and holy bride. Herein lies the connection with marriage.
Marriage is a sanctifying institution. It is one of God’s greatest mechanisms for purifying individuals because, in marriage, you are exposed before another in a way you cannot really hide. The raw you is known deeply by someone else and—pursued rightly—marital intimacy leads you toward godliness and righteousness. You recognize that your beliefs and actions do not just affect you, but impact another.
So you learn to grow in love, holiness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, hope, wonder, and self-control, all to love your spouse better. Yet at the same time, you are growing in holiness and preparing yourself and your spouse for the coming of the King.
More than this, you demonstrate to the world what it is like for Christ to love the Church and for the Church to love Him back. You help everyone see the rapturous joy we will experience when we are finally united with our God and King. God can use your marriage to reach people you never thought possible and draw them into relationship with Him.
I cannot tell you how close I believe the coming of Jesus is. I pray you will dive into prioritizing your marriage, taking on the humble nature of Jesus—the servant—all to love your spouse better. Do not take it lightly. Do not dismiss it. Eternal rewards are on the line.
Take steps toward intimacy today. Your marriage is your number one ministry and priority. It is the primary and central purpose God has created you for and called you to. Why? Because only you can do it. It is a purpose unique to you. God sovereignly placed you where you are. Love your spouse deeply and show the world what God’s love is truly like.
